The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has proposed some amendments to fishing regulations in the state. The late-July nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia announced by the Trump administration is not only suspect in its motives but dangerous in its potential. The proposal is a loser in any circumstance but is all the more shocking in its middle-of-a-hot-war timing.

I am struck by the glaring difference between the headline from the White House that says, “Welcome to the Golden Age; Sign up for news and updates from the Trump White House,” and the following recent quote from economist Paul Krugman: “I don’t see a golden age. I see an America that has become an ineffectual bully, sicker, poorer, and riven by political extremism, with no friends anywhere in the world” (Substack, July 22).

On July 14, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an act that would put the country on daylight saving time permanently. The measure still has to pass the Senate and be signed by the president, but if it succeeds, the 108-year-old tradition of turning clocks forward in the spring and backward in the fall would cease. How do you feel about daylight saving time? Do you think this proposal should move forward?
