I had to sit there and listen to this god-awful hearing for over three hours. The pure ignorance of people talking about the subject matter, with speculation and fearmongering, was mind-blowing. I could probably design a data center with no setback requirements or environmental concerns, other than being highly energy-intensive. How society uses data, not so much artificial intelligence alone, demands more and vastly larger data centers. At least one Levy Court official did some research prior to the meeting. The others, not so much. Overall, it was very depressing to listen to ignorance that long. — Joe Taylor
If you were there for three hours, why didn’t you chirp up? Why leave it for the comment section on a Facebook post written the day after the vote? The evidence is clear that large data centers have negative influences on the environment, wherever they are. But I’m sure you could design a data center off the cuff to solve the environmental problems, no problem. — Pete Schonert
As always, you do what you want and don’t listen to the people! I’m sick of all you politicians. I think it’s time the good ol’ boys go! — Barbara Foltz
Didn’t most of the state already say “no data centers,” and you are still going ahead with allowing them here? We better be getting some benefits out of this, like faster speeds at a lower cost, because we cannot have these 1 million-plus-square-foot buildings when you are complaining that “we need to solve the housing crisis.” Yet you just let a small or large company take up 50-100 acres of land that you just stole from some farmer or from families through eminent domain. — Kyle Hendrix
Are the data centers going to be near the commissioners’ homes? I bet not. — Allison Marie
