Milford

River Town. Art Town. Home Town.

Located on the Mispillion River, Milford was settled in 1680 and incorporated in 1807. The city, which straddles Kent and Sussex counties, reached prosperity through the shipbuilding industry, beginning in the 1770s and through World War I. During much of the 20th century, Milford was the commercial center for the bulk of southern Delaware’s agricultural community.
