As president of the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association, I would like to respond to the letter from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (“Permit-to-purchase bill backed by Moms Demand Action"). My group does not support the permit-to-purchase legislation that is pending in the House of Representatives.
In January, Delaware’s Senate Education Committee met for the first time in 2024. One of the bills members discussed was a proposed student loan bill, which would create a “bill of rights” for borrowers and create an “Office of the Student Loan Ombudsman” to handle disputes and report on data received, as the bill’s sponsors don’t believe the private student loan market is adequately regulated.
After about a monthlong fight with the city of Milford, Annette Billings will get to keep her property, which was in the process of being condemned through eminent domain for a bike path. City Council met Feb. 21 to vote on the next steps in the controversy. After hearing public comments and an executive meeting, a motion was made to terminate eminent domain on the property. It passed, and residents in attendance roared with cheer.
On Feb. 21, the Biden administration announced a new $1.2 billion round of student loan forgiveness, with President Joe Biden personally notifying the 153,000 beneficiaries by email.
