No injuries reported in Greenwood structure fire

GREENWOOD — No injuries were reported in a structure fire Monday, the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal said.

Spokesperson John Galaska said the incident, reported shortly after 8 p.m., occurred in the 12000 block of North First Street. The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from an unoccupied maintenance structure at the New Process Fibre Company, he said.

Mutual aid fire companies assistied at the scene.

Mr. Galaska said the fire remains under investigation at this time. Damage is estimated at $100,000.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Sussex Division of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at 302-856-5600.

Anyone with information on the fire apparatus damaged while responding to this incident was asked to contact the Greenwood Police Department at 302-349-4822 or Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
