Indian River school board approves scholarship donations

DAGSBORO – The Indian River School District board of education at its Monday, June 24 meeting approved a $20,000 donation to fund two scholarships for Sussex Central High School students.

The donation is from Daniel Ingram and Elizabeth Ingram for the Brenda Ingram Scholarship Fund. It will fund two $10,000 scholarships.

Because this donation was over $5,000, by law, the donation required school board approval, according to IRSD Business Director Tammy Smith.

Also at the June 24 meeting, the board approved a $5,000 scholarship donation from the Paul Englert Foundation for a scholarship at Indian River High School.

The board also voted on this with unanimous approval.
