Sweeney: Gun rights advocates should offer ideas to curb shootings

Posted

They say the definition of “insanity” is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome each time. Well, I must be going insane.

The Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association president continues to put up blocks for every possible plan, suggestion, idea or law that is suggested to battle out-of-control gun deaths, without any suggestion of his own on what we do to stop school shootings, mosque shootings, grocery store shootings, parade shootings or concert shootings (“Law-abiding gun owners are not the problem”). The last time I countered him with ideas, he claimed I didn’t know the Constitution. I do. I swore an oath to uphold it. I also swore to protect my constituents and my county. I am.
