Driver critically injured when vehicle crashes into Milton residence

MILTON - A 20-year-old Milton man was critically injured when the Mercedes-Benz E-320 vehicle he was driving crashed into a residence early Saturday, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell said.

According to police the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a..m. when the vehicle exited Harbeson Road approaching a gradual right curve. The vehicle then struck a stop sign at the intersection of Diamond Farm Road and Harbeson Road before traveling into the yard of a private residence.

The vehicle overturned continuously until striking the attached garage of the residence in the 17000 block of Harbeson Road.

The vehicle traveled through the exterior walls of the garage and came to a final rest, upright on top of the front of a parked 2019 Toyota 4-Runner.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to an area hospital, police said.

Harbeson Road was closed for approximately four hours.

The Troop-7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact Cpl./1 J. Smith by calling 302-703-3267.
