Traditions of the Pocomoke Indian Nation to be demonstrated at events in June
POCOMOKE CITY — The Pocomoke Indian Nation is planning special events in June to demonstrate traditions of Native Americans who lived here before the colonists.
On Saturday, June 3 starting at 1 p.m. the Delmarva Discovery Center will be the site for lessons on fire making and flint knapping. Watch and learn these skills from tradition bearers during a program for all ages at no extra charge beyond museum admission.
On Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pocomoke River State Park’s Shad Landing the tradition bearers will demonstrate fire making and flint knapping, dugout canoe burning, native cooking, and show stone and bone tools. This event is free and will be held rain or shine.
