Two arrests made following search warrants in Laurel

LAUREL — A 50-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both Laurel residents, were arrested for multiple drug charges following search warrant executions Tuesday, Delaware State Police said.

Police said that at approximately 6:10 a.m., search warrants were executed at two residences on the 11400 block of Trussum Pond Road. The search warrants were obtained following a four-month drug investigation of Alonzo Roberts, who was suspected of the large-scale distribution of narcotics, police said.

The residences were occupied by five adults, including Mr. Roberts and the woman. Both were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police said the search located crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, $2,525 in suspected drug dealing proceeds, Suboxone strips, numerous rounds of ammunition and various paraphernalia to include digital scales and distribution/packaging materials.

Mr. Roberts was charged with possession offenses including firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), with intent to deliver a controlled substance (three counts), controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity (two counts) and drug paraphernalia (three counts). He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $62,600 cash bond.

The woman was charged with possession of controlled substance without a prescription and drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 for the charges as well as for multiple violation of probation capias warrants. She was released on her own recognizance for the charges, however, was committed to the Sussex Violation of Probation Center for the capiases.
