Though I’ve always admired Harriet Tubman, you can’t talk about heroes without mentioning Martin Luther King (“Question of the Week: Who would you consider a Black history hero?”).
The blatant racism that he and others, like John Lewis, endured was intolerable. But he helped change the laws while preaching nonviolence. The sad thing is that, in my opinion, there has not been anyone since to take his place.
America has come a long way. Barack Obama, Kamala Harris and Ketanji Brown Jackson are a testament to that.
