Seaford man killed in single-vehicle crash

DELMAR — A 35-year-old Seaford man died in a single-vehicle collision Saturday.

According to the Delaware State Police, Alexander Bechtel was driving a Cadillac at approximately 11:34 p.m., when he lost control of the vehicle. It slid off Whitesville Road, east of Whaleys Road, and struck multiple trees, police said. The driver was ejected.

Mr. Bechtel was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, a 31-year-old Seaford woman, was flown to an area trauma hospital, where she was admitted for life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for approximately four hours.
