NAACP youth celebrate Earth Day at Cape Henlopen State Park

LEWES — Members of the Lower Sussex NAACP Youth Council No. 2719 commemorated Earth Day April 20 with a bus trip to the Cape Henlopen State Park.

Activities included lunch under the pier pavilion, a scavenger hunt along the Delaware Bay shoreline, and an interactive marine exhibit at the Seaside Nature Center.

The unit is currently carrying out an environmental and climate justice campaign called, “Save Our Bays.” The initiative’s goals and objectives include educating the public about the dangerous impact of pollution and advocating for policies and practices that ensure the health of our waterways.

The event was made possible by a grant from the Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park.
