DOVER — Bustling activity filled the Noble’s Pond clubhouse Friday, as people streamed in the front doors, chatted with vendors, grabbed some giveaways and swayed to the music.

It was the return of the “Thrive Dover-Senior Life After 55” event, which brought exhibitors, food and activities, all presented by the Daily State News in partnership with Noble’s Pond.

Active seniors were invited to learn, explore and enjoy this free gathering in the 55-plus lifestyle community. Activities included a cooking demo, several dance demonstrations, flower-arranging demos, door prizes, model home tours and many vendors, who shared expert knowledge about activities, health, home, finance and more.

“Our goal for our Thrive events is to offer information to help improve the lifestyle of our senior community,” said Heather Cregar, the director of marketing and promotions for the Daily State News.

The publication’s special events manager Jessica Cook added, “In essence, age 55-plus can be seen as a time to thrive because it offers a combination of experience, resources and personal freedom that enable individuals to pursue their passions, maintain health and well-being — and make meaningful contributions to society and their own lives.”

Relatively new to the area is Stephen Clark, just one Thrive guest who retired to Delaware and enjoys building a life around nearby activities.

“I’m getting involved with the community here,” Mr. Clark said. “I love it here.”

Sponsors who made the day possible included Bayhealth and Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
