CAMBRIDGE – Join us for Second Saturday on Aug. 12, and celebrate the two exhibitions in the galleries at DCA – “The Comic Book Art of Lee Reece” and “Art of the Shark” Matt Brady Exhibit.

The Artists’ Reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. with live music and light refreshments. Exhibiting artist Lee Reece will give an artist talk at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend, and all are welcome.

Back by popular demand, a summer pop-up open mic will be held one night only, Aug. 15, 6-9 p.m., hosted by Mike Sosler. Come out and enjoy some of the area’s best local talent or share your own. No advance registration required.

In the George B. Todd Performance Hall, Groove Theatre Company opens their new show “Torch Song,” directed by Tally Wilford. Written by Harvey Fierstein and winner of the 1983 Tony Award for Best Play, Torch Song follows Arnold Beckoff's odyssey to find happiness in New York.

Showtimes at DCA are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday, 7 p.m. Aug. 18 and Aug. 19, and 3 p.m. Aug. 20. Tickets may be purchased by visiting Groove Theatre online at groovetheatre.com.

Teens can still enjoy one more week of the Teen Art Intensive, a free summer arts program funded through a grant from the City of Cambridge and encompassing the Maryland Arts Standards. The final week will be Aug. 14-Aug. 18, for youth entering 9th-12th grade.

Students will start the week focusing on MD Standards 1 and 2, experimenting with thematic materials and looking at historical and contemporary examples for their artwork. Mid-week students will begin to add Standard 3 into their work, looking at the finishing of a piece and how to critique their work.

For the end of the week, students will focus on Standards 4-8 finalizing pieces, deciding on exhibition worthiness, creating artist statements, and practicing curatorial skills. Call or register online at dorchesterarts.org.

Please note the new date for the DCA annual membership meeting: Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. DCA members are asked to RSVP to 410-228-7782 if they plan to attend the meeting.
