The plan for the old Dover Post Office building’s next life will soon be revealed. This summer, the city began the formal process to sell the former five-decade home of the post office. A committee chaired by city manager David Hugg will soon finish vetting the 14 proposed uses submitted to the municipality. At the Monday council meeting, Mr. Hugg will unveil his pick on who will buy the downtown landmark.
- I have always loved that building and the beautiful tree out front! — Maria Nole Sportelli
- Everyone needs to come to the next council meeting. Since they “accidentally” forgot to have a public meeting at the appropriate stage of this process, they will have to bring forward all bids and allow the public to comment. It should be an interesting meeting. A chance to be heard at least! — Sue Harris
- When is it? I was at the last meeting. — Calvin Sparks
- Next meeting is Oct. 9. Be sure to be there! — Sue Harris
- Gotta keep it a secret? Why would that be? — Jeff Grzeszczak
- The City Council doesn’t even get to know the top three bidders selected. Only David Hugg gets to know apparently. Imagine that. — Karla Lara
- Government at work. Just how long has it been closed? Personally, I think they should open a fentanyl safe-injection site. — Robert Beckman
- God, I hope you’re joking. — Zack Maucher
- They’ll probably tear it down and build another eyesore like the library! — Rick Tremble
- Rumor has it that a Spanish church is gonna get the old post office lot because the pastor had a talk with the mayor and cut a deal. That’s what I heard from a friend. — Charlie Williams
- I wonder if they sold this for a dollar. — Bobbi Costello
- Ninety-nine cents. — Jason Locke
