Smyrna man arrested on gun and drug charges

DOVER — A 32-year-old Smyrna man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.

Police said Eric Sartin Jr. was taken into custody without incident on U.S. 13 near Bally’s Casino at approximately 1 a.m.

Police said a search warrant for the vehicle located a handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition, methamphetamines, heroin and marijuana. Various types of drug paraphernalia were also located, police said.

Mr. Sartin was charged with possession offenses including firearm during the commission of a felony, firearm by person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, firearm or ammunition by person prohibited, controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, with intent to deliver a controlled substance (two counts) and drug paraphernalia along with carrying a concealed firearm.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $90,100 cash bond.
