I think everyone should be allowed to vote in primaries regardless of party (“Question of the Week: Should all voters be eligible for primaries?”).
I am not an across-the-board voter. I sometimes feel that a candidate from another party might be more qualified than the one in mine. Shouldn’t that be what counts in an election? The most qualified?
I’ve heard people admit that a candidate from another party was the better of the two but then say they’re in a different party, so they can’t vote for the better choice. To me, that’s a coward’s way out.
If we want the most qualified to be in our general election, than we need to allow primaries to be open to all political parties.
