Shortages abound everywhere, and the number of certified lifeguards is no exception. Qualified applicants were down in the resort area, and Lewes beach was prepared to leave its beaches unguarded. A collaboration between beach patrols boosted the numbers and a mix of part-time and full-time lifeguards make up the crew have been patrolling the busy beach. Are you willing to enter the water at an unpatrolled beach? What would you do in an emergency?
