MILFORD — After six months of repair work to fix damage from vehicle strikes, the Mispillion River drawbridge reopened on Friday, the city said.
"We and Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) appreciate everyone’s patience in repairing this historic bridge!" the city wrote in a Facebook post.
The Delaware Department of Transportation closed the bridge to marine traffic after an excavator towed by a truck struck the overhead of the bridge in December 2021. Another vehicle struck the bridge the following month.
The bridge was closed to all traffic in February this year to allow a contractor to begin repairs. Corrosion and alignment issues discovered after the work began set back the reopening date back several months.
