MILFORD — Workers repairing the Mispillion River drawbridge have discovered corrosion issues that were not found in the initial evaluation of the bridge, the city announced last week.
The bridge was closed in February to repair damage caused by multiple vehicle strikes. At the time, it was estimated the work would be completed by April.
Workers for the Delaware Department of Transportation contractor discovered 40 locations with heavy corrosion that were not visible until rafter repair work began in February.
The department anticipates all work will be completed in June and the bridge will be fully operational.
