McKendell: Camden mayoral candidate announces platform

As a longtime resident of Camden, I am thrilled to announce my candidacy in the town’s upcoming mayoral election, set to take place Feb. 24 from noon to 8 p.m. at Camden Town Hall. This decision is fueled by my passion for community-driven governance — one that places community engagement, increased transparency and accountability at the forefront. In my view, serving as mayor centers on servant leadership and co-creating an agenda where each resident’s voice is heard, valued and respected. Camden is a melting pot of different cultures, ages, backgrounds and perspectives, and it’s through this mix that our strength is best amplified.

Camden’s upcoming election is a chance for the community to forge its future by choosing a leader who is committed to representing the collective voice of the people and putting their collective needs/interests first. My ultimate goals are to build a bridge of trust between leadership and community and to live up to a shared vision that reflects the needs, interests and aspirations of every resident, regardless of background or circumstance.

The prospect of serving as Camden’s next mayor is both an honor and a responsibility that I don’t take lightly. I bring 20-plus years of experience in policy administration, fiscal management, leadership, advocacy and community engagement in both the public and private sectors. I believe that my experience, along with my extensive educational background, uniquely qualifies me to represent Camden residents well. As Camden’s new mayor, I vow to work hand in hand with each resident to address concerns, enhance local services and build a future that we can all be proud of.
