Lakey: Project 2025 not written by Trump

Posted

Regarding a letter to the editor in the Aug. 22 Daily State News, listing items from “Donald Trump’s” Project 2025 plan, readers should go to the Heritage Foundation website and peruse the 922-page document and find out what it is about, rather than accept what someone has posted in an Opinion (“Trump’s Project 2025 detailed”).

This document was not written by Donald Trump but rather by the staff of researchers at the Heritage Foundation, for the purpose of making policy recommendations for newly elected conservative presidents to consider when planning an agenda. It is not a mandate of any kind but suggestions, all of which could never be accomplished in only four years. I have gone through, but not thoroughly read, the full document and haven’t seen many of the things in the laundry list in the letter, but you should look for yourself. An example is the “use (of) the military to break up domestic protests.” It is illegal to use the active-duty military to take a role in law enforcement duties (Posse Comitatus Act); however, the National Guard can be and frequently is used for this purpose.

So, go through it, read what you have time for and judge for yourself. You also should look at the World Economic Forum’s website and the United Nations’ website (regarding its sustainable development plan), and see what that requires. But, just because someone writes a letter to a newspaper (to include mine), don’t assume that what is written is the truth. You don’t know the writer nor me. Check for yourself.
