Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center will host 'Get Outdoors Day' Sept. 30

The Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center in Eden will host Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 am until 2 pm.

In collaboration with more than a dozen local organizations, this free, family-friendly event promises to be a thrilling experience for kids and families seeking adventure, education, and a profound connection with the great outdoors. 

Get Outdoors Day features more than a dozen free activities led by local experts to help kids connect to nature. Activities include kayaking, sporting clays, archery, fishing, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Under the supervision of trained instructors, participants can test their skills, challenge their limits, and ultimately create lasting memories. 

The Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center, a haven for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled amidst the fields and forests of Eden, the center offers an idyllic setting for those yearning to unplug their kids from the online world. This Get Outdoors Day event presents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature's wonders, with activities designed for every age and interest.

Education is at the heart of this celebration, with engaging interactive displays taking place throughout the day. Experts from local universities and nonprofit organizations will share their knowledge on topics such as wildlife, marine biology, and the importance of preserving our natural heritage. These displays will inspire participants to become responsible stewards of the environment and promote sustainable practices in their everyday lives.

To cater to the event participants, the Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center will also offer a hayride, free hot dog BBQ, and free T-shirts for kids (while supplies last).
