SALISBURY — The Kennedy-Connelly Educational Assistance Fund Planning Committee presented a $500 check to the Salvation Army Richard Hazel Youth Center Oct. 7, 2023, at the annual “More on the Shore” Crab Feast.

The donation was in memory of Roxie Connelly who mentored youth in the afterschool program and was received by Elaine Price, Salvation Army Richard Hazel Youth Center administrative assistant.

The Kennedy Connelly Educational Assistance Fund was created in June 2015 under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. William E. Kelly, presiding elder of the Eastern Shore District.

It was established in memory and recognition of the ministry and leadership given to the Philadelphia Eastern Shore District by the immediate past-Presiding Elder the Rev. Dr. John W. Kennedy and immediate past-District Director of Christian Education Roxie Connelly.

The fund is established for the purpose of providing educational assistance stipends to persons pursuing higher education that are active members in good standing as a member of a church within the Eastern Shore District, and local Maryland and Delaware communities.
