Mr. Ed Mayer directs his Opinion (“Republicans at fault for eroding democracy”) to Mr. Frank Daniels’ piece (“Why are Democrats trying to destroy democracy?”).
Mr. Mayer claims that the defunding of public broadcasting and foreign aid are evidence of such destruction. Let’s look at the examples with his claims: foreign aid being spent on “Sesame Street” in Iraq and drag shows in Middle East countries. Is this what we want American taxes going for?
There’s the defunding of public broadcasting, which is 8% of its budget. When 92% of the shows and news are against either Republican views or President Donald Trump, why are Americans’ taxes paying for the programs? If they want that format, sell advertising like other networks and have the biased views.
Where was Mr. Mayer when President Joe Biden was not able to hold the office? When do intelligent people stop taking the Kool-Aid?
