Dover Downtown Rotary Club joins fight to provide water to Kenya
DOVER — Will Grimes, president of the Dover Downtown Rotary Club, recently exchanged club flags with Rotarian Jerry Bilton of the Newark group, joining a clean-water project for Kenya.
Mr. Bilton recently spoke about the initiative, which is being supported by a district grant. It seeks to provide clean water to a drought-stricken community, near Mount Kilimanjaro.
The project’s operational partner is Newark-based Water Is Life Kenya.
After hearing about the project, the Dover Downtown club became its 10th partner.
Others include the Rotary Club of Kent Island (Maryland), the Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club, the Dover Colonial Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of St. Michaels (Maryland), the Dover Capital City Rotary, the Newark Rotary Club, the Newark STAR Rotary Club, the MOT Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Salisbury (Maryland).
The groups are short of their $16,300 goal by $1,000 and are looking for additional partners. Contact Mr. Bilton at jabilton@aol.com for information.
