The division is also the call reception and dispatch center for Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, Hurlock Police Department, Cambridge Police Department, 14 volunteer fire departments, and four staffed county paramedic units.

Shots fired investigation

On Jan. 6, at approximately 1:34 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of Pine Street in reference to a Shot Spotter alert of multiple shots being fired. Officers arrived on location and observed a group whose members reported that subjects were shooting. There was no damage located or victims identified.

Officers recovered several spent shell casings. CPD officers were able to view camera footage from the area that showed an unidentified subject at the intersection of Pine Street and Cedar Street fire multiple rounds at another unidentified subject on Pine Street.

The first person then fled the area on foot towards Bethel Street. The second person was then observed running to the intersection also firing multiple rounds at the fleeing subject.

This is an ongoing investigation, where the Cambridge Police Department is requesting the assistance from the Community with any information relating to this incident. Please contact the Cambridge Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 410-228-3333. Callers can remain anonymous.

Theft, resisting arrest

On Jan. 7, at approximately 3:39 p.m., CPD officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting incident. Officers contacted asset protection officers who had a female subject detained.

The woman provided several different names, one of which, Relannada Walker, showed an active bench warrant for failing to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2022, on an original charge of theft less than $100.

When officers attempted to place the female under arrest, she began to resist, but was quickly subdued. Search incident to arrest of the female subject, officers located ID that identified the subject as Mary Relannda Eaddy (43 years old of Cambridge).

Eaddy was transported to CPD for processing and her initial appearance before a court commissioner. Eaddy was released on the warrant and the on-view charges on unsecured bonds. Eaddy was charged with the following:

  • Theft $100 to under $1,500
  • Fail to obey lawful order
  • Resist arrest
