Delaware men get back on track; Delaware state women win again

Delaware was running out of chances to get its season back on track.

Northeastern didn’t make it easy for the Blue Hens on Thursday night, either.

But Delaware made enough big plays down the stretch to pull out a 73-67 win over the Huskies and snap a two-game losing streak in CAA men’s basketball at the Carpenter Center.

Gerald Drumgoole, Jr.’s three-pointer from the top of the key with 3:40 left gave the Hens the lead for good at 64-62.

Delaware finished the contest on a 12-5 run to improve to 10-7 in the CAA, 18-12 overall with only a game at Stony Brook on Saturday remaining in the regular season.

The Hens o into the game in sixth place in the 14-team league standings.
Jyáre Davis led all Delaware scorers with 19 points and nine rebounds, one shy of his seventh double-double of the season. Niels Lane put up 16 points and Drumgoole Jr. tallied 11.

The Hens, who have struggled at the foul line at times, went 21-of-26 on Thursday. Davis was 10-of-12.

Delaware is now 13-2 when leading at halftime this season and 15-1 when holding opponents under 70 points.

WOMEN, Delaware State 57, Morgan State 53: The Hornets out-scored the Bears by six in the fourth quarter to pull out the MEAC victory on Thursday night at Memorial Hall.

The Hornets (4-7 MEAC, 8-16 overall) have won back-to-back games for the third time this season.

Savannah Brooks netted 17 points to pace DelState with Deyonce Thompson adding 12.

The Hornets took the lead for good on an Emily Jones layup with 03:27 left.
DSU next hosts Norfolk State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
