Clayton man killed in single-vehicle crash

Posted

FELTON — A 20-year-old Clayton man was killed in a single vehicle crash on Sunday, authorities said.

Police said that at approximately 3:10 a.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Paradise Alley Road, approaching a stop sign at the South Dupont Highway intersection.

Without stopping, authorities said, the vehicle proceeded through the intersection, crossing both the north and southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway.

The vehicle veered off the highway, police said and struck a stop sign located on the eastbound side of Paradise Road. The vehicle continued westbound through a grassy area before side-swiping a large tree.

Police said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim will be released once his family has been notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

Investigation continues and police asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Master Cpl. W. Booth at 302-698-8451. Information may also be provided by sending a Private Facebook Message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
