City manager of Milford set to retire in May
MILFORD – Milford city manager Mark Whitfield is set to retire May 1, 2025.
He informed Mayor Todd Culotta and the rest of Milford City Council on Wednesday that he will not be requesting a contract extension beyond its expiration April 30, 2025.
Mr. Whitfield served Milford as the public works director from July 2106 to December 2019. He followed as the interim city manager from January 2020 to April 2020.
He then became the city manager in May 2020 and has had the role ever since.
Prior to coming to Milford, he served as the public works director for State College, Pennsylvania and retired from there after 35 years.
Earlier this year, he was recognized as Delaware City Manager of the Year for 2023 by the Delaware League of Local Governments.
The city council will discuss the recruitment process for a new city manager later this month.
