DOVER — The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome the region to the 23rd annual 55 Plus Expo on Thursday at Bally’s Dover from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event, which has become a staple in the community, aims to provide valuable resources and information to the 55-and-older population and their caregivers, family and friends.

The chamber will bring the region a free-to-attend program full of vendors and exhibitors to support the 55-plus population, local businesses and the communities that support them. At the heart of this event is the mission to foster a sense of belonging, well-being and fulfillment among individuals ages 55 and above in central Delaware. We are thrilled to continue this legacy for its 23rd year, offering a platform where attendees can explore a multitude of opportunities designed to support their physical, mental and social vitality.

One of the highlights of the expo is the lineup of informative seminars. The Wellness Center, sponsored by Bayhealth, can be easily found in the hallway outside the ballroom. Information and health assessments on pertinent topics will be available.

Throughout the Rollins Center, some exhibitors will have “Caregiver’s Support Exhibitor” signs. Visit them to gather the tools you need to take care of your loved ones. There will be valuable guidance on how to handle stress and solve common problems that caregivers face when providing for those who need extra help.

From 11-11:45, join UnitedHealthcare and Anna Wood in the main ballroom to learn all about your Medicare choices. They’ll also share resources to help you understand the right coverage for you, including a free educational guide.

From noon to 1:45, join the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services for “Caregiver Supports and Dementia Friendly Delaware” in the main ballroom. This presentation will provide an overview of caregiver support services offered through the Division of Services for Aging and Adults With Physical Disabilities. In addition, you will learn about the Dementia Friendly Delaware Campaign, which includes interactive training for volunteers/employees in multiple employment sectors.

From 1-1:15, interactive entertainment continues with a low-impact, dance-based cardio and strength training fitness demo on stage in the Rollins Center, hosted by Glenenise Parks, owner of the Jazzercise Dover Fitness Center.

And, last but certainly not least, from 1:30-2, the Steppin’ Seniors of the Modern Maturity Center will perform several dance routines on the Rollins Center stage. They are the unofficial ambassadors for the center in Dover and promote line dancing as a fun way to stay active and healthy by performing throughout the community.

The 55 Plus Expo is not just an event — it’s a celebration of life, learning and the limitless opportunities that await you in your golden years. Whether you’re a returning attendee or experiencing the expo for the first time, the chamber invites you to join its members Thursday for connections and information that can help you live your best life. Admission is free, but the experiences you’ll encounter are priceless. Don’t miss out on this chance to enrich your life today and in the golden years to come.

We would like to thank our expo sponsors (as of April 1):

  • Wellness Center Gold Level — Bayhealth
  • Gold Level — Delaware Department of Health and Social Services and UnitedHealthcare
  • Silver Level — Aetna Medicare Solutions, Coastal Bath Co., the Delaware Department of Insurance’s Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware and Westside Family Healthcare
