Barclay: Alito’s upside-down flag a bad sign

Posted

The flying of our U.S. flag upside down at the home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is appalling. It suggests he is taking sides with those who felt the 2020 election was fraudulent and who attempted to halt the peaceful transfer of power in January 2021.

We expect our courts to administer justice based on the law, and knowing Alito is standing with those who attempted this suggests that he is partisan. He should recuse himself from anything before the court having to do with the 2020 election and Jan. 6, 2021, as should Justice Clarence Thomas, whose wife was involved that day.

These two justices also took expensive trips with individuals who had business before the courts, which suggests that those individuals may have been trying to “buy” or sway their decisions. Our court system is built on fair and impartial justice under the law, and the people of this country are beginning to question this. We need to restore ethics and fairness to our courts.
