SALISBURY — The May 3rd Friday event, with the theme of “Paw Prints,” is sure to be fun for humans and their pets. This month’s third Friday is set for Friday, May 17, from 5-8 p.m.

Third Friday is a free arts event held in Downtown Salisbury on the third Friday of each month. This year, 3rd Friday has a new layout, including the Downtown Plaza (West Main Street from West Market Street to North Division Street), Division Street next to the parking garage, and Unity Square. There will also be a new Business District featuring Downtown businesses on North Division Street between Route 50 and Main Street.

A ribbon cutting will be held for Unity Square starting at 5:30 p.m. A brief ceremony will feature remarks on both Unity Square and “All Together,” the newly-installed sculpture in the park created by Bill Wolff.

Third Friday will again feature two live music performances – Uprizing at Unity Square and Wayne Blake on the Plaza. To go along with the “Paw Prints” theme, K9 Legend will do a live training demo on the Plaza at 6 p.m. and K9 Heeling will do a live training demo at Unity Square at 7 p.m.

There will also be a pet costume contest, with all costumed pets winning a special treat.

The Salisbury Art Space will host its opening reception for the Salisbury Art Space and United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore Addiction Awareness Visual Arts Competition from 5-7 p.m. during 3rd Friday.

People can enjoy music from On the Edge at the Brew River Dock Bar from 6-10 p.m. on 3rd Friday, and MoJo’s will feature AJ the DJ from 9 p.m.-close. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will have hot dogs and hamburgers available for purchase and the Blessing of the Animals from 6-6:30 p.m.

Salisbury’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will host its monthly free bike valet for anyone who rides bicycles to 3rd Friday, with volunteers watching parked bikes from 5-8 p.m. while attendees enjoy the festivities.

Third Friday is requiring free registration for 2024 for vendors, community groups, performers and volunteers. Registration and more information can be found at 3rdfridaysby.com.
