I very much appreciated Nancy Mercante’s Opinion piece, “Saving Delaware’s kids is our responsibility.” The key complaint in her letter was low test scores among Delaware kids compared to the rest of the country.

Politicians suggesting a sales tax will have trouble being reelected. A sales tax is regressive, not progressive, because middle- and lower-income people would pay more in proportion to their incomes than upper-income people would.
