Nonprofits in Kent County are encouraged to apply for grants from the Roy Klein Education Fund.
The fund is for programs that support improvements to life in central Delaware, including Smyrna and Milford, through economic development and related career and occupational education.
It is available to all 501(c)(3) organizations in the county or groups that run programming that directly benefits the area.
The application is available at delcf.org/grants, and the deadline is July 15. The maximum award is $3,000.
Mr. Klein was born June 14, 1926, in Philadelphia, to the late Julius and Eleanor Aarons Klein. He was in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1944-47. After the service to his country, he was employed as the head of marketing of the Caloric Corp., Philadelphia, manufacturers of appliances and gas ranges, until 1966. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Temple University in 1950.
Mr. Klein was committed to several causes in Kent County, and through this fund, his dedication to central Delaware continues.
