SMYRNA — A Citizens’ Hose Co. firefighter suffered minor burns Tuesday during a house fire that caused an estimated $500,000 damage, authorities said.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire within the two-story single-family dwelling, authorities said. Assistance was requested from several fire departments, as well as Kent County EMS.

The injured firefighter was transported by EMS to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, in Dover and then Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Pennsylvania. His condition was listed as stable Friday, authorities said.
