CAMBRIDGE – Dorchester Center for the Arts welcomes December with a variety of artful opportunities. Visit the holiday craft gallery during regular operating hours, through Dec. 23. Make a miniature decorated wreath or ornament, and enjoy a cup of hot tea or cocoa, too. Free, and all are welcome.

On Dec. 12 at 7 p.m., the all-volunteer 60-voice Chorus of Dorchester will perform its 49th series of wonderful seasonal music in a concert entitled “O Star” in the George B. Todd Performance Hall. Since 1975, the Chorus of Dorchester has brought together Dorchester County residents and friends from middle schoolers to senior citizens who share a love of singing.

Its membership includes those who have participated since 1975 as well as a number who have joined for the first time this year. The chorus is under the direction of Cookie Brohawn, accompanied by Laura Todd on piano and Barbara Hubbard on organ, and funded by the Nathan Foundation. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Open Mic returns for a winter pop-up Dec. 19, 6-9 p.m., in the Main Gallery at DCA, sponsored by Peter Baker. Bring your talent, or just come to listen and enjoy. Free, and all are welcome. There will be a cash bar for beer and wine. The event will be hosted by Ray Remesch. Watch for the weekly series to return in January.

The Merry Market holiday artisan show and sale continues in the galleries through Dec. 23. Enjoy a whimsical shopping experience with a variety of artists displaying their hand-crafted work.

Join us for the Second Saturday reception Dec. 9 from 5-7 p.m. with festive refreshments, live music and an opportunity to meet the featured artists. Dorchester Center for the Arts is committed to supporting and uplifting our local artists. We invite you to see what the Merry Market has to offer.
