Stinger: Why doesn’t DelDOT plow state facilities’ lots?

During our last little snowstorm, I noticed something interesting: Why do state facilities contract snow removal with outside companies?

We have a department called the “Department of Transportation.” It has its own plows. Its employees plow its own parking lots. They don’t plow other state facility parking lots — or at least not all of them. Not even most of them.

This is an outright misappropriation of taxpayer funds.
