WYOMING — The end-of-summer party is here again, and First State senior citizens will be happy for that.

Proceeds generated from Saturday night’s Sip & Savor will benefit Meals on Wheels Delaware, the program dedicated to providing nutritious food and drink for homebound elderly recipients age 60 and older.

From 6 to 9 p.m. at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, guests will be part of a casual party atmosphere while tasting specialties from restaurants, sipping cocktails and grooving to the entertainment of guitarist-singer Wes Davis. A VIP reception begins at 5:30 p.m.

As of Wednesday, organizers said only nine tickets remained for the popular event. The 2015 edition will continue the momentum of a move to the current Wild Quail site, which has saved on expenses without sacrificing the quality of the gathering formerly known as Denim and Diamonds.

“Wild Quail has been fantastic,” Ms. Dodds said. “They help us out in all sorts of ways, from staffing to logistical support that really brings the event together.”

The cause of more than 30 years is noble, and defined by Meals On Wheels Delaware’s purpose to “ensure, through the provision of financial and human resources, that every eligible senior in the state of Delaware receives a hot, nutritious meal in their home.

“Meals On Wheels Delaware is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, a public/ private partnership between the federal government, the State of Delaware, five meal-providing agencies and thousands of volunteers from corporations, civic, religious and community groups.”

The mission statement includes:

“The mission of Meals On Wheels Delaware is to raise private funds for allocation to memb ams.

“By providing both financial and human resources, we will ensure uninterrupted delivery of meals to senior Delawareans in the comfort of their homes.”

According to the nonprofit, nearly 4,000 homebound seniors receive daily meals through the program. In 2013, according to Meals on Wheels Delaware, over 710,000 meals were served statewide.

Five agencies prepare and deliver food each day, including the Modern Maturity Center at 1121 Forrest Avenue in Dover.

• Manage their own affairs

• Find needed assistance or care

• Live life with dignity

Agencies can apply to Meals and Wheels Delaware for funds raised, which will be allocated based on a formula that assesses needs, Ms. Dodds said.

Next month, Meals on Wheels Delaware will hold two other fundraisers, including:

• Oct. 4, Celebrity Chefs Beach Brunch at Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Oct. 22, The Ultimate Tailgate at Sheraton Wilmington South in New Castle, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
