Scott: Harrington library requests support via Do More 24

Posted

As a Delaware-based nonprofit, the Friends of the Harrington Public Library is thrilled to announce its participation in Do More 24 Delaware/Delaware Gives, a statewide giving campaign, March 7-8.

The Friends of the Harrington Public Library is a 501(c)3 organization. Its purpose is to promote and enhance library programs, services and facilities. It is a volunteer organization, whose members share the belief that a strong public library is a valuable asset to our local communities because it is an essential intellectual, cultural, educational and recreational resource for our citizens, both old and young.

As you know, the new site for the Harrington Public Library is under construction, and as we continue with the construction of the library, we are looking toward furnishing our makerspace lab, where people can invent, tinker and create with a variety of craft materials and technologies.

A full list of what we are planning to outfit the space with can be found on our Do More 24 page: domore24delaware.org/fundraisers/a-time-to-read. The proceeds from Do More 24 from individuals like you will make outfitting the makerspace possible. With fewer foundations, smaller grants and formerly localized investments now leaving the state, the impact you have is more important than ever.

For 24 hours, from 6 p.m. March 7 through 6 p.m. March 8, we’re asking you to do more with us. Please give to us through Do More 24 Delaware. Until then, we’ll be sharing more about getting involved and what your help creates for our community library.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Marleena Scott

Director, Harrington Public Library
