NEW CASTLE—New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced dates and times for the county’s annual holiday open houses.

“Our holiday open houses are a perfect way to kickoff the holiday season,” Mr. Meyer said. “These free community events – going on more for more than two decades are a proud tradition New Castle County is proud to host year after year.”

Rockwood’s Holiday Open House will be held on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening. Admission to the open house is free, as is the park and ride located at the nearby Rockwood Office Park at 501 Carr Road in Wilmington.

For the 22nd year, the Holiday Open House at Rockwood will feature festive lights in the park’s gardens, free photos with Santa, mini train rides, local music and dance performances in the Carriage House and Museum and more. The 2022 holiday display in the mansion is inspired by Rockwood Park’s historic arboretum and includes a dozen decorated trees celebrating the 170-year legacy of the arboretum and gardens.

Museum tours at Rockwood are free throughout the month of December and the holiday light display will remain through the new year.

The free Holiday Celebration and Market at Glasgow Park in Bear will take place on Dec. 9 and 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Dec. 9, guests can visit the Hermitage at Glasgow Park, which will feature a tree lighting, food trucks, rides on the Toyland Train around the farmhouse, selfies with Santa, performances by local school ensembles and choruses, and more.

Families are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank at a drive coordinated by the Glasgow High School Air Force JROTC.

The Holiday Open House and Holiday Celebration are presented by New Castle County Department of Community Services Division of Community Resources.
