Speak Up: Affected by the strike?

Last month, performers joined the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike that has resulted in various shows pausing or canceling episodes. Key issues for strikers include residual payments and unpaid use of their work and likeness by artificial intelligence avatars. A recent Opinion cartoon quipped that, without new shows, “we’re going to have to interact with our fellow Americans again.” How is the strike affecting your leisure time? What are you doing differently?

• Does not affect me at all. Unfortunately for the strikers, this strike does not hurt the public as much as an airline or a parcel delivery strike would. They may have valid reasons for their strike, but I don’t think they will get much sympathy from the public. — Stan Sipple
