Smyrna High limited Milford to just five fourth-quarter points to put away a 51-35 victory over the Bucs in boys’ basketball on Wednesday night.

The unbeaten Eagles (4-0) outscored Milford (4-2), 13-5, in the fourth quarter while holding the Bucs to a season-low in points.

Ja’Vier Worthy (15 points), Charlie Taylor (11), Jaymeir Garnett (11) and Caleb Matthews (11) all finished in double figures for Smyrna. The Eagles don’t play again until Jan. 5.

Brion Murray had 14 points to lead Milford.

A.I. duPont 54, Caesar Rodney 42: Already leading by five, the Tigers outscored the Riders, 15-10, in the third quarter to open up a double-digit advantage in the nonconference win.

Girls’ basketball

Milford 57, Smyrna 49: Jameshia Baker poured in 30 points, including four three-pointers, as the Buccaneers (5-0) remained unbeaten.

Rajene Bowe added 11 points for Milford, which rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit.

Smyrna’s Melena Credle had 19 points with teammate Jayla Smith adding 16.

Sussex Tech 85, Seaford 33: The Ravens jumped out to a 43-11 halftime lead on their way to the win.

Kara Hignutt (17 points), Camille Scott (13), Rukiya Davis (13) and Mi’Cah Shelton (13) all scored in double figures for Sussex Tech (3-3).

Seaford’s Tamara Evans netted a game-high 23 points, hitting nine of the Jays’ 12 field goals.

Cape Henlopen 51, St. Georges Tech 27: The Vikings won their second game in a row to improve to 3-2.

Wrestling

Cape Henlopen 38, Wilmington Charter 22: Joel Torres (220 pounds) posted a pin in 1:12 for the Vikings’ quickest fall of the night in their nonconference win.

Anthony Caruso (113) also picked up a first-period pin with Cory Lawson (160) and Julian Medina (285) also winning by fall.

College basketball

WOMEN, Delaware State 88, Longwood 63: A season-high five players scored in double figures, led by a career-high 25 points from guard Mikah Aldridge in the Hornets’ win.

The Hornets (3-8) tallied back-to-back double-digit home victories for the first time since 2012-13.

Trailing 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, the Hornets erupted for 30 points over the next 10 minutes, highlighted by a 19-0 run in the final 4:22. Forward NaJai Pollard scored eight of her 13 points in that stretch.

Aldridge, who is averaging 17.4 points in her last six games, scored 13 of her 25 points in the second half. Delaware State set a school record with 11 three-pointers, including four from Aldridge.

Freshman Bobbi Floyd nearly missed out on a double-double with nine points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Delaware 71, Vermont 60: The Blue Hens snapped a three-game losing streak and had four players score in double figures in the nonconference win.

Delaware (5-5) led for more than 35 minutes of the contest and by as much as 13 in the third quarter before the Catamounts (4-7) threatened late. Vermont opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to cut Delaware’s lead to just three with eight minutes remaining.

But the Hens capitalized on their free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.

The Hens, who returned to the Carpenter Center for the first time in a month, were led by junior Hannah Jardine’s 18 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Erika Brown added 16 points and four assists while senior Courtni Green collected 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.

MEN, Utah 105, Delaware State 58: The Hornets fell to 0-12 with the loss at No. 24 Utah on Tuesday night.

Devin Morgan netted a team-high 14 points for DSU but was the only Hornet to reach double figures.

The Utes (10-2) had 12 players score at least four points with four players in double-digit scoring. Utah shot 61.7 percent for the game, including 12-for-23 from three-point range.

The Utes tallied 52 points in the first half and 53 in the second.
