DOVER — While he may have finished just 23rd Saturday, C.J. Faison probably doesn’t have too much to complain about.

After a two-year hiatus from NASCAR, Faison made his Xfinity debut on Saturday, competing in the Buckle Up 200. A Seaford native, Faison drove the No. 26 car for JGL Racing at Dover. It was a solid performance for the 21-year-old, even if it didn’t jump off the page.

Still, he could have done far worse, and for his 23rd-place finish, he earned 21 points.

He sits 46th overall in the Xfinity Series standings, and though he’s not competing for a championship this year, it’s good practice for the driver.

Bigger things could be on the way for the only NASCAR driver from Delaware.

Roush Racing

Jack Roush is having a solid year. Owner of Roush Fenway Racing, he’s got three wins and four of the eight drivers in the standings currently. The crown jewel at the moment is Chris Buescher, the 22-year-old who leads the series.

Buescher won on Saturday, thanks in part to his gutsy decision to go the final 98 laps with no fuel change. It took some careful oversight from Buescher and his crew chief, Scott Graves.

The driver was sure to save enough gas to do a burnout after crossing the finish line Saturday.

Still, despite his team’s success so far, Roush will have to play mediator. Darrell Wallace Jr., one of his drivers and the fifth-place competitor this season, had some words for teammate Buescher shortly after the race.

He expressed displeasure at the way Buescher bumped him out of the way on lap 191.

Strong results

For Buescher, it was his first win and second top-10 finish in three races at Dover.

Second-place finisher Matt Kenseth has now ended in the top 10 13 times in 21 competitons at Dover. He overcame some early tire troubles to end up in second.
