Three players finished in double figures as Caesar Rodney High rolled to a 62-24 victory over Lake Forest in girls’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The win was the sixth in the last seven games for the Riders (8-3), who outscored the Spartans, 23-1, in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Zoe Scott (14 points), Alexis Reid (10) and Brionna Brooks (10) led CR.

Arika Burrell had a team-high nine points for Lake Forest.

St. Thomas More 73, Polytech 52: Amaja’ Mack netted 27 points as the Ravens pulled away to the win.

At 7-1, St. Thomas More has the program’s most victories since 2012. Leading by only two points at halftime, the Ravens outscored the Panthers, 42-23, over the final two quarters.

Sasha Marvel added 21 points with Sarah Pool scoring 13 for the Ravens. Mack sank four of St. Thomas More’s seven three-pointers.

Cherise Castello and Alexandra Hobbs had 11 points each to pace the Panthers.

Smyrna 54, Wilmington Christian 42: Melena Credle tallied 23 points to pace the Eagles to the nonconference victory.

Smyrna outscored the Warriors, 38-24, in the second half. Jayla Smith added 15 points for the Eagles.

Woodbridge 35, Sussex Central 30: The Raiders outscored the Golden Knights, 8-2, in the fourth quarter to rally for the win.

Yasmin Hill had 13 points with Altia Anderson and Tykeya Nelson scoring 11 points each for Woodbridge, which has won three games in a row.

Emily Truitt netted 13 points, hitting three of Central’s five three-pointers.

Boys’ basketball

Dover 79, Brandywine 28: Every Senator player on the roster scored as Dover improved to 7-3.

Steven Justice finished as Dover’s leading scorer with 14 points while Mike Douglas had 11. Terrence Woodlin and Cam Turner each scored 10 points, Thomas Hoskins chipped in nine and Jordan Allen had eight.

Cape Henlopen 64, Indian River 52: The Vikings outscored the Indians, 19-0, in the first quarter before posting the win.

Randy Rickards (16 points), Jeremiah Smack (14), Drew Mylcahy (13) and Demetrius Price (11) all scored in double figures for Cape, which scored the first 21 points of the contest.

IR’s Isaiah Bratton had a game-high 19 points with teammate Jamieer Felton scoring 12.

Woodbridge 61, Sussex Central 35: Khalil Holliman-Letherwood netted 23 points to lead the Raiders to their sixth straight victory.

Kejon Mosley added 14 points with Cornell Corbin scoring 10 for Woodbridge, which led 34-14 at halftime.

Central’s Ethan Lambert had 11 points.

Laurel 54, Holly Grove Christian 37: Brandon Faulk tallied 12 points to lead the Bulldogs to their second straight win.

College basketball

DSU’s Morgan honored: Delaware State freshman guard Devin Morgan has been named the MEAC men’s basketball Rookie of the Week after combining for 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in two games.

His week was highlighted by a career-best 27 points vs. Morgan State on Jan. 9,, the highest total for a DSU player this season. Morgan was 10-for-10 at the free throw line and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds in the contest.

His point total at Morgan State was the most by a Hornet freshman since Terrence Hood also scored 27 vs. Florida A&M during the 1996-97 season.

Morgan is tops on the Hornets and 27th in the MEAC in scoring at 10.1 ppg. He also leads the team with 25 three-point field goals and is second on the club with 28 assists. He has reached double figures in scoring in five of the last six games, and has at least one three-pointer in the last 11 games and in 13 of his 14 contests this season.

Hornets’ Pollard earns another MEAC award: Delaware State freshman NaJai Pollard earned her fifth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Award in women’s basketball.

She averaged a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds per contest in two games last week. Pollard leads the Hornets in rebounds (7.4 rpg) and blocks (21), while sitting third in scoring (10.3 ppg) and steals (17).

College football

Wesley to face Del. Valley: The Wesley College football team will host Delaware Valley as the one nonconference foe on its 2016 schedule.

The Wolverines open the season against the Rams under the lights on Friday, Sept. 2. Delaware Valley finished 9-2 last season, downing Moravian, 20-16, in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series.
