Sussex Tech High downed Sussex Central, 19-7, in a Henlopen Conference Northern Division football game on Monday evening.

The contest was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed twice because of the storm that hit the state this past weekend.

The Ravens remained unbeaten at 1-0 in the North, 4-0 overall. It was also their third straight win over the Golden Knights (0-1 North, 1-3), who lost their third game in a row.

Sussex Tech has moved its home game against Caesar Rodney to Saturday at noon. The contest was orginally slated for Friday night.

Laurel 38, Delmar 28: Senior Shyheim Holden scored three touchdowns as the Bulldogs earned a Henlopen Southern Division win on Monday.

Laurel (1-0 South, 2-2 overall) built a 17-7 halftime lead before holding off the Wildcats in a game that was postponed by rain on Friday.

Holden ran for 78 yards on 15 carries, scoring on a pair of two-yard runs in the first half before adding a 19-yarder in the fourth quarter. Deon Parker (11 carries-52 yards) scored on a three-yard run with Skylar Chaffinich scoring on an 81-yard interception return.

Arles Henriquez added a 41-yard field goal. Quarterback Perez Nichols completed 3-of-4 passes for 95 yards.

Kavon Trader ran for two TDs for Delmar (0-1, 0-4) while Trey Henry and Logan Thomas ran for one each.

Boys’ soccer

Sussex Tech 5, Cape Henlopen 4: Michael Barr’s overtime goal, in the 98th minute, lifted the Ravens to the Henlopen Conference North victory.

Barr and Marlon Trejo both scored twice for Sussex Tech, which led 3-1 at halftime. Trejo’s goal on a penalty kick sent the game to OT.

Joshua Artiga also scored for Sussex Tech while Alberto Cruz and Carter Burris had two assists apiece. Goalie Anthony Hitchcock made nine saves as Cape finished with advantages of 14-11 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks.

The Vikings got two goals from Drew Mulcahy and one from Steven Matalavage. Noah Clifton and Brent Hochrein combined to make seven saves.

Volleyball

Polytech 3, Brandywine 0: The Panthers earned a 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 victory in a nonconference match on Monday.

Emily Campbell had a team-high 13 kills and 14 digs, Kaylee Williams had 12 kills, 5 aces and nine digs while Morgan Teszner contributed 27 assists for Polytech (5-4).

College field hockey

Wesley’s Fromal honored: After leading the Wesley College field hockey team to a 3-0 shutout win over Drew, senior goalkeeper Kayla Fromal was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Fromal posted 10 saves in the Wolverines’ only contest of the week. It was her fifth double-digit save performance of the season and her third in four contests. The shutout was her second of the year.

College volleyball

UNC-Wilmington 3, Delaware 0: The Seahawks (3-1 CAA, 12-4 overall) took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-18.

The Blue Hens (0-3, 8-8) dropped their third straight contest.

Katie Hillman recorded her third double-double in the last four matches with team-highs of 16 kills and 16 digs for the Hens, while Alexa Swann added seven kills and four blocks. Raven Luckett (Smyrna) set her career-high with seven kills, while Julia Anderson handed out 24 assists and Ariel Shonk posted 16 digs.
