Joanna Petrosky netted seven goals to pace St. Thomas More to a 20-13 victory over Sussex Academy in girls’ lacrosse on Monday afternoon.

Gillian Crawford and Sophia Stafford had five goals each with Jessica Simmons tallying three for the Ravens, who outscored the Seahawks, 12-7 in the second half.

Madison Murrian made five saves. St. Thomas More outshot Sussex Academy, 35-16.

Claire Loftus and Margaret Smith scored three goals apiece for the Seahawks with Molly Martiner netting two.

Dover 13, Newark Charter 11: Mira Prisco netted six goals to pace the Senators to the victory.

Grace Gast added four goals with Cydney Barnes collecting a goal and assist for the Senators (2-3), who won their second game in a row.

Caravel 18, Caesar Rodney 6: The Buccaneers built a 13-2 halftime lead on their way to the victory.

Kacie Cava tallied four goals for CR, which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Delaney Steele and Eibhlin Steele also had goals with Kaitlyn Longest making 10 saves.

BOYS, Dover 17, Newark Charter 5: The Senators (3-4) tallied 11 first-quarter goals in winning their second in a row.

William Niebrzydowski had six goals and six assists for Dover with Robert Mason (2 assists), Connor Ashoka Garrett and Chris Valenti all scoring twice.

Thomas Gill (2 assists), Daquan Hooten, Cole Palmer, Divine Watkins and Tyree Dennis-Gaymon netted the Senators’ other goals with Kyle Potter stopping six shots.

Lake Forest 16, Red Lion Christian 10: The Spartans improved to 6-2 with their third win in a row.

Girls’ soccer

Lake Forest 9, St. Thomas More 0: Hannah Fox netted three goals and two assists as the Spartans (6-0) stayed unbeaten.

Julianna Tyndall (2 assists) and Lauren Sharp (1 assist) added two goals apiece with Brooke Tucker and Karinne Moyer scoring Lake’s other goals.

St. Thomas More goalie Kourtnie Orth made nine saves as the Spartans held advantages of 19-1 in shots and 10-0 in corner kicks.

Delmar 8, Delmarva Christian 1: The Wildcats outscored the Royals, 5-0, in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Baseball

Delmarva Christian 5, Holly Grove Christian 4: The Royals rallied for three runs in the bottom oof the seventh to pull out the victory.

College baseball

Wesley’s Willey honored: Wesley College pitcher Eric Willey (Woodbridge) was named the Pitcher of the Week in the Capital Athletic Conference.

The senior tossed 10 scoreless innings in two appearances last week, including a complete-game shutout against Christopher Newport that helped the Wolverines secure the No. 4 seed in the CAC Tournament. Willey struck out six and walked three while scattering eight hits.

Earlier in the week, he threw an inning of scoreless relief in a non-conference game against Susquehanna, striking out two.

College softball

Wolverines lose two: Wesley College took a pair of losses at the hands of Penn State Abington, 6-5 and 6-3.

Eight different Wolverines recorded a hit in game one, including Nina Marcano, who hit her fourth homerun of the year.

In game two, Sydney Botsch (Smyrna) tossed a complete game allowing five earned runs on nine hits while fanning nine for Wesley (12-18).

College lacrosse

Two Hens win awards: Delaware junior attackman Paul Major and freshman faceoff specialist Jake Hervada both earned Colonial Athletic Association weekly awards for their efforts in the Blue Hens’ 10-7 men’s lacrosse upset of No. 7 Towson on Saturday.

Major, who scored four goals, was named the CAA Player of the Week while Hervada, who scored his first career goal and won nine of 20 faceoff attempts, was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
