Here is the Question of the Week:
After vetoing an effort to legalize and regulate marijuana in Delaware in 2022, Gov. John Carney announced earlier this year, “I will allow House Bill 1 and House Bill 2 to be enacted into Delaware law without my signature.”
In a recent Opinion piece, researcher Dr. Beth Cohen writes that legalizing both medical and recreational marijuana “means an increasing number of people are likely to get exposed to cannabis smoke. But how safe is direct and secondhand cannabis smoke?” She adds, “Scientists have identified hundreds of chemicals in both cannabis and tobacco smoke, and they share many of the same carcinogens and toxins.”
What are your thoughts about secondhand cannabis smoke? The law restricts its use “in an area accessible to the public or in a moving vehicle,” yet its distinctive odor is often recognizable in public situations. How should the health risks from smoking cannabis be publicized?
