Gov. Matt Meyer recently vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have limited the power of governors to declare and maintain a state of emergency. He found fault with a provision that would have allowed the legislature to amend or terminate a state of emergency that had lasted more than 180 days, calling it “unconstitutional.” Do you agree with Meyer? Should the durations of these emergency periods be changed?
